How We Grow Saffron
Saffron, grown indoors in our own lab
Growtech Organic Farm grows saffron in India's first automated saffron lab. Instead of depending on one short outdoor season, our saffron grows in a controlled indoor environment. We use no pesticides, and every pack holds only saffron threads, with nothing added and nothing mixed in.

Why grow saffron indoors?
Saffron comes from the crocus flower (Crocus sativus). Outdoors it is grown in only a few regions, such as Kashmir, it flowers once a year, and the harvest depends on the weather. Growing it indoors lets us manage the conditions the crop needs at every stage, from planting to flowering.
Inside our lab
The lab in Sector 128, Noida is automated end to end. High-precision chillers manage temperature, full-spectrum LED panels provide light, and IoT sensors keep humidity in range.

From corm to thread
- Planting: saffron grows from corms (bulbs), which are placed in trays inside our lab.
- Growing: conditions in the lab are managed through each stage of the crop's growth.
- Flowering: each purple crocus flower carries three deep-red stigmas. These stigmas are saffron.
- Harvest and drying: the stigmas are separated from each flower and dried to become saffron threads.
- Packing: the threads are packed in jars of 0.5 g, 1 g and 5 g.

What this means for you
- No pesticides: our indoor saffron is grown without pesticides.
- Nothing added: pure saffron threads, with no colours, flavours or fillers mixed in.
- Grown in India: in our own automated lab.

Our entire operational team, from crop care to harvesting, is women.
